stgeorgesday.com joins forces with Andrew Rosindell MP by tabling an Early Day Motion in Parliament (Early Day Motion Details)St. George’s Day is nearly upon us and this year’s celebrations are shaping up to be more passionate than ever!
Support for England’s national day to be made a public holiday has received support from up and down our green and pleasant land, with over 1 MILLION people signing the StGeorgesDay.com online petition, urging Her Majesty’s Government to establish St. George’s Day as a public holiday in England!
In Parliament, support for the campaign has gone from strength to strength, with M.P.’s from all sides of the House of Commons giving their backing to the idea and singing my Early Day Motion calling for St. George’s Day to be given the recognition it deserves.
Last year, I also tabled a Private Members Bill seeking legislation ensuring that everyone in England is given an annual day off on the 23rd April to celebrate their national pride in St. George as Patron Saint of England and although it was not given enough Parliamentary time to become law, my Bill received widespread support from members of all political parties and from people across the country.
