St Mary's Guildhall Coventry - St George the Legend

Open to visitors 23rd April - Guided Tours

Did you know that St. George may have been a Coventry man? In many early stories of St George's deeds, his birthplace is no longer Cappadocia, but Wyken, in Coventry, and on Wednesday 23rd April at St. Mary's Guildhall, one of Coventry's finest medieval buildings, we'll be marking the patron saint's special day. From 10:00 until 4:00 the Guildhall will be open to visitors, with guides on hand to talk about the St. George legend, and Coventry's medieval past, whilst Godiva's restaurant in the vaulted undercroft will be dishing-up traditional English fare. From 1:00 St. George himself will be making an appearance, to recount tales of his heroic deeds, perhaps accompanied by the dragon.
